The Manufacturing Specialist (MS) and Manufacturing Technician Level 1 (MT1) document an individuals’ mastery of the critical competencies required for modern manufacturing production and production-related occupations. Both credentials are industry-endorsed and competency based. The MT1 certificate program was developed to meet the growing employment demands of the manufacturing industry for “factory ready” workers. The MT1 program addresses the core industry-wide skills standards required for skilled production occupations in all sectors of manufacturing. The MT1 curriculum only trains to close measured skills gaps, as identified by the MT1 assessment. The Manufacturing Specialist (MS) certification is awarded by receiving a passing score on: (1) math and measurement assessment, and (2) spatial reasoning and manufacturing technology assessment. The Manufacturing Technician (MT1) certification is awarded by passing the two assessments required for the MS credential and also passing the (3) business acumen and quality assessment.
Assessment topics include: measurement, algebra for manufacturing, math for quality, spatial reasoning, mechanics, fluid power, thermodynamics, electricity, chemistry, manufacturing processes and controls, quality and lean manufacturing concepts, SPC (statistical process control) basic concepts, and business acumen.
