Virginia's Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) provides a simple, low cost tool for individuals to document their workplace skills and for employers to match those skills to fill their open positions. The CRC matches the right people in the right jobs. The CRC is based on established WorkKeys® Assessment tests. (WorkKeys® is a comprehensive skills assessment tool recognized by thousands of companies in the U.S. and by state and federal agencies.)
Individuals can earn three levels of CRC's based on their test performance in Applied Mathematics (measures the ability to apply mathematics principles to math related problems encountered in the workplace), Locating Information (measures the ability to understand and apply written information presented in workplace documents), and Reading for Information (measures the ability to find, analyze, and apply information presented in workplace graphics).
Bronze level signifies that a recipient scored at least a level 3 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 16% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.
Silver level signifies that a recipient scored at least a level 4 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 67% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.
Gold level signifies that a recipient scored at least a level 5 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 93% of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.
For the career seeker, obtaining a CRC will:
- Certify foundational workplace skills.
- Provide employers with additional insight into your qualifications.
- Give an advantage over the other job applicants who have not demonstrated needed skills.
- Build confidence that skills meet the needs of local employers.
- Enhance employability and set the stage for possible career advancement.
