This class includes a personal garden consultation and two lectures that will prepare participants to choose plants and a proper garden site, then make a garden map. The class will cover garden planning, succession planting, season extension, crop and variety selection, working with the day length, microclimates, frost and freezes, growing healthy transplants, and seed sowing techniques. Space in the Treadwell-Jones Greenhouse will be available for students to grow their crops, and seeds, growing medium, and trays will be provided. Students are also invited to purchase additional seeds and may use the seed catalogs available on campus.
